I have been an advocate about parents creating opportunities to connect with their children through everyday interactions. Everyday interactions can be playing together, listening to music together, holding hands, having a meal together, chit chatting together, shopping together, and working on a project together…
Children learn best through Fun
To a child, there is no distinction between learning and playing, it is just what they do naturally. Play to them is the language for: fun, learning, exploring and relaxation.
Through play:
- they learn to observe, explore, feel, touch and create, and
- they learn to understand various concepts and attach language and feelings to them.
Through these activities, your child will learn about social and emotional awareness, physical development and intellectual maturity. In other words, children will learn about themselves, their environment and people around them through play.
The importance of FUN
Play = FUN
FUN comes about through play.
Through play, they learn to interact, laugh and have fun together. Fun also helps to relax their mind and body while absorbing new information through the experiences … by interacting, listening and watching other people.
Children remember how they FEEL about a situation or experience, and not so much about what you tell them or teach them.
If they feel relaxed and are having fun, they will continue and enjoy the play, which indirectly means … they are having FUN LEARNING.
Empowerment
Learning through FUN interactions
I hope you can appreciate when children feel connected and secure through the interactions with their carer or parents. They will develop their self-esteem and self-worth through the love, smiles and encouragement; this will in turn empower them with the joy of learning and the quest for knowledge through the fun interactions and your encouragement. Fun activities also do not need to be expensive.
GoKids Fun activities
Therefore, I am very passionate about sharing fun EVERYDAY interactive activities through GoKids website, as well as the Facebook Page and Instagram. The activities can be from a photo I take along the roadside, or something I draw or an image I upload.
From each activity, I will post a few questions, quiz or just something fun. I would like to encourage you to share it with your children. Work with them, and ask as many questions relating to the picture or image on top of the questions that I post, while having fun with your children. Please feel free to add more questions or suggestions to share with the GoParents community on the comment section.
The parenting articles will still be featured on both Mondays and Thursdays, and GoKids Fun activities will be featured on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
One activity will be posted each day either through Instagram, GoKids blog or GoParents Facebook page.
I look forward to connecting with you … and have fun connecting and empowering your children.
