Let’s create a fun activity together -– a colouring page! I talked about the importance of FUN in learning in for children and to make it relatable to let your child relate to it. Why is fun important when it comes to children’s learning? 1. This is because, to a child, play = fun, . and And play and fun are the language they understand, ; this is how they learn about the world around them. 2. When a child enjoys the activity they would want to do it again and again, . they They would want to repeat that activity many times over, thus increasing motivation to learn and participate. 3. When your child is having fun, they are laughing and enjoying the process, which reduces any stress that they may be feeling in their body, thus it enhances their learning capabilities. Why has is relatability it important to relate to an activity? As for being able to relate to an activity that you understand and is within your grasp, you would be more motivated to want to pursue it in more depth, wouldn’t you? In other words, it needs to make sense in your world. For example, your 3 year old is fascinated with all sorts of animals that she comes in contact with, . she She would wants to play with them, focus more and is very keen to find out more about them through books, stories, personal interactions, documentaries, zoos, wildlife park etc. Why would you think that is the case? Why? Because she is able to relate to this particular topic, ; to her, it is fun, as they make sense and it gives her lots of joy and pleasure to learn more about animals. So I am going to do something really fun… Get your child to do one thing that he or she absolutely loves, something that they can relate to, and send it to me. For example, if your child loves animals, take a photo of any animals they like, it can be a dog, cat, an insect etc. Send it to me via the Facebook Page or email me at admin@gokids.com.au, and I will create a fun colouring page to share with the GoKids community. How about that? Would you be interested? This is an example of a colouring page I created.
