I am doing something a bit different today. I’m incorporating something that’s been on the TV recently and creating something interactive for the kids and parents to learn together.
Names of countries appear on the news every day. Using the live telecast of the tragic news of the missing airline flight MH370, guide your kids about the neighbouring countries and where they are located on the world map. Learn about the name of the oceans as well. Can they draw the map or download the world maps from Google search, identify those countries on the world map or even colour in a map….
Children learn through fun interactions and repetition – even if it is about the news and current events. If they are continually watching the maps popping up on the TV screen, and hearing the names of the countries and oceans being mentioned over and over again, they will remember those names. And they can start to identify where those countries or oceans are.All these are going to make sense to them and they will remember. Through this, learning becomes alive, and they can start to connect and apply things in a real context. This also helps you to answer any of their questions.
What else can your children learn from the world map?
- Desserts of the world
- Forests of the world
- Continents of the world
- Learn about the countries and where they are on the world map
- and so much more…
Google “research map of the world for kids” and you will be able to view many free world maps that you can download.
Have a fun time with your children.
