This activity is for the kindergarten children who are starting to learn to SPELL and WRITE. [Refer to Preschoolers page for other activities).
Here I am creating some fun activities from rainbows.
1. Identifying colours
2. Colouring in
3. Spelling
4. Writing
Kindergarten children would have better fine motor skills than preschoolers; drawing and writing skills are essential for them to keep developing their muscles.
Identiting colours
Name and identify the 7 colours in correct order: RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO, VIOLET. *I believe these are the colours – correct me if I am wrong.
Colouring In
Create a fun challenge: without looking, name the 7 colours and colour them on a blank sheet of paper/white board with markers/crayons.
Spelling/writing
Download the sample worksheet I've created: https://s3.amazonaws.com/GoKids-Article/rainbow.pdf
This worksheet is a sample of what you can do and create. Please add more activities on it and create more FUN challenges for them.
Music – kids learn through FUN and music is a great way to teach anything. Search YouTube and type in ‘rainbow song’, and you will find hundreds of kid-friendly rainbow songs on there. Listen and choose the ones that you and your children like. HAVE FUN 🙂
Have fun and remember, every child is unique, and have a different learning style. Be fun and creative, and have fun while taking into account your children’s ability.
