How to set the tone of a joyful and connected family

Creating connections and bonding with your children is about consciously making time to connect, to communicate and be there for them.

It does not matter what you do, as long as you are making the effort to include them in what you are doing. This can be many things: washing up the dishes, cooking together, spending time in the car, grocery shopping together and so on. It is about being emotionally available when communicating and interacting with them, and it means listening deeply to what they share with you.

To a child – TIME = LOVE

Do you enjoy playing and interacting with them?

Do you enjoy their company?

Your children will not remember much about where they go for vacations, what you have bought them for their birthdays, but they will remember how you made them FEEL when they are in your company.

Do you enjoy their company? Do they feel safe? Do they feel loved unconditionally? Do you believe in them enough so that they are confident in their own ability to take the risks to try new things in life? Do your children know whether they will still be loved unconditionally should they fail when taking chances?

To a child, love is when you consciously make time and choose to spend that with them. Be present and be interested – to a child, they will feel forever wanted and loved

Fun interactions = PLAY = Learning= Connections=Safe=Empowerment and Confidence.

Here is a very helpful question I tend to ask myself when I am in doubt or not sure what the answer/s may be for any situation.

1. Ask yourself this question: How would you like your life and your FAMILY to look like? If you look back 20 years from now, how would you feel about your family?  What would you like to visualise your relationship with your family to be like right now?
2. Once you have decided, set your intention to have that positive interaction.

Intention establishes a direction of energy and activates the experiences you want. So when you set your intentions from a place of clarity and presence, you set your energy in motion and the environment for the intentions to manifest the way how you want it.

Remember, you are the creator of your life. It is in your hands. Consciously make choices that enhance the quality of your life and your family's life. Your child needs to know that they are loved unconditionally and they have you to guide them.
