Wishing everyone a happy new year. I hope you had a wonderful time connecting with family and friends and a much needed rest.
I had a wonderful time with my family and friends here in Australia, as well as connecting with relatives overseas through social media and the old fashion phone. I have to say, thanks to social media, it makes connections much easier and brings people closer, wouldn't you agree?
I had quite a lengthy talk with my parents, especially my mother and we discussed our elderly relatives who had passed away during the past few months. We talked about rearranging my parents' planned overseas trip that had to be postponed due to my dad's recent sickness; we discussed about carers, cleaners etc, and we always end the conversation discussing food!
My mum has many recipes that she would like to share and is urging me to make time to record them… and I personally have one unfinished recipe book that I started at the beginning of last year about the dishes that I grew up with.
After careful consideration of my options, and my allocation of time for 2017 etc, I have decided that I am going to take some time off from studying and writing about GoKids, i.e. Early Childhood issues, Family, Parenting issues etc, which has been my "baby" for almost 20 years, and focus on my recipe writing for the next 6-12 months.
So in the meantime, my apologies to all my faithful members, I will not be writing for GoKids for a while. I appreciate that some of you have been my faithful followers for the past 20 years, ever since I started GoKids; however, due to change of circumstances, I have to take a detour for 2017.
I still have 600+ blog posts on family issues and kids friendly activities through gokids.com.au that you can still refer to, but I would like to still keep in touch with you guys. Let's connect via Facebook or through my TokPanjang blog posts.
Tok Panjang is translated as Long Table. I chose the theme of Tok Panjang to represent my message – it is about sharing wholesome traditional dishes with your family and friends at your Long Table from the heart of your home – Your KITCHEN!
So if you are interested in understanding Malaysian dishes, please connect with me through tokpanjang.com and via the Facebook page, and join my weekly newsletter. I will be sharing with you my childhood dishes, why it is important to go back to the food of our ancestors, and how to create those beautiful dishes in under an hour.
It is very sad to even say a temporary good bye, but you will forever be on my GoKids mailing list. Unless you subscribe to TokPanjang mailing list, this will be the last email you receive from me until at least the middle of this year.
Until then, thank you for sharing my journey together, and I wish you the best for 2017. May the new year bring you happiness, health and joy in everything you do.
Let's connect and continue a new journey together!
