This week's eNews is about Exploring, Learning and keep Expending yourself! Today’s eNews is going to be fun!! I am sharing some of my recent travel to China's experiences with you….
I have just spent 13 wonderful days visiting some of the most beautiful and historical parts of China. It was so breathtaking and so pleasant to see how far China has come in the past 30 years.
In Xian for example, we had the opportunity to view the modern museum displaying the 2000+ years old terracotta warriors and horses and to really appreciate the history and the significance of the discovery. Furthermore, we also had the opportunity to meet one of the three farmers who first discovered the terracotta worriers. What a treat!!
I am sharing some photos from the trip in the Facebook Page photo album section. Do check them out when you have the chance.
Uniqueness, family and our children
What I have learnt from this trip and from my other overseas trips is that every city and country have their own culture, their own language, beliefs values, and their own uniqueness. They have their own identity through their arts, food, culture and architecture.
Like our families, we have our own values, beliefs and likes and dislikes. Harness your uniqueness but, at the same time, give yourself the opportunity to explore other people’s values, beliefs and their own uniqueness. Our children are unique in their own ways. Harness their uniqueness and respect them for who they are.
Open up to other ideas, cultures and values and find the uniqueness of each other.
I have learned from this trip that:
- I did not have access to Facebook, Youtube and Twitter in China, which I conveniently forgot about.
- A Peking duck dish in Beijing is different from what we are used to in Australia. In Australia, we are more exposed to the Cantonese style.
- What we deem to be acceptable in terms of our road and traffic rules may not apply in China…..
