Will you be celebrating Halloween this year?
I started celebrating Halloween many years ago when my children were very young. They would walk with their school friends and visit the neighbours. Unfortunately I will be missing yet another Halloween this year as I missed last year, because my dad was ill and I left for Malaysia to be with the family.
I really enjoy Halloween. Why? Because it is one time during the year where you get to meet the neighbours. It is a great opportunity to say hi to the children and their parents, and to hear the children's laughter along the street. It’s fun seeing the children’s happy faces when they are all dressed up. Doesn't that bring a smile to your face?
Whether or not you are a believer, celebrations unite people. For me personally, I am not so much a believer, but I rejoice in celebrations. I embrace the opportunity to share those special moments with everyone who celebrates the special occasions, whether they are Chinese New Year, Christmas, Deepavali etc. Even if it is not part of our culture in Australia, we can still rejoice and join in the fun with those who do.
Let's get to know our neighbours. Dress up, get some lollies and share them with the lovely children coming your way. And say hi to their parents as well. This is such a wonderful opportunity to connect and to get to know your neighbourhood.
Have a wonderful time connecting and Happy Halloween. I will be thinking of all of you.
p/s Please share your Halloween photos on the Facebook Page, as I would love to see them.
