A while ago I wrote an article about “Re-connect with your family traditions through food”. I am a firm believer that the best way to connect people is through FOOD!
In this article, “Staying Connected with your children”, one of the suggestions is having a family meal together. Having a meal time together creates the opportunity to connect with your family. It does not have to be in the restaurant, but by just having dinner together or breakfast together before heading off to work or school, is a fantastic way to connect with your family.
One suggestion is, as it is currently the Master Chef season, this program runs daily on the TV. Use this opportunity to watch the show together, select the recipe that the family likes, and replicate it in your kitchen. This way, not only will your family share the connection through watching the show together, but to replicate in your own home and share it at the dinner table will make it even more fun and special, as there will definitely be conversations of whether the dish is similar, or whether the correct ingredients are being used, or whether the dish is cooked the correct way as shown on the program…
So get your kids cooking now…and share the fun of creating your favourite dishes that the family will enjoy together!
