Fun Interactions = Empowerment + Connections
My Passions and Mission
I am an advocate of bridging generational as well as cultural gaps in families while instilling the love of learning in their children through FUN daily interactions.
My mission is to support you (fellow GoParents) on how to create connections and establish strong relationships with you children (GoKids), while at the same time instilling the love of creating and learning through those EVERYDAY interactions.
GoKids
My philosophy behind GoKids is simple:
I believe that Learning, whether it be about relationships, instilling values and beliefs, it should start from HOME! through FUN daily interactions with adults whom they trust and love.
Thus, all daily interactions that you and your children come in contact with, let it be fun! and memorable. That’s when the magic of connections happen!
Why FUN?
Because, to a child, LEARNING = PLAYING and having FUN!
How do you make that happen? INVOLVE THEM!
Involve them in your daily activities, such as cooking, shopping and home chores etc. You will be amazed on how they learn from following and mimicking you.
Encourage them to be CURIOUS!
Arouse their curiosity, encourage them to ask questions, expose them to unlimited resources and give them the skill to find out themselves. Teach them to think, instill positive mindsets and teach them to learn through LOVE – that’s how you can guide your children with the love of learning, as opposed to learning merely to pass school exams.
Children should also feel safe, happy and nurtured with unconditional love. Be their guiding force and be the example you want them to be.
GoParents
While I was running workshops and seminars for teenagers, and from interacting with parents and discussing their concerns and frustrations about their children, I really appreciated where the parents were coming from and it totally resonated with what I was going through myself at that time – how to guide and to inspire our children while at the same time how to build relationships and connections with them.
Our children create their lives through modeling their parents’ lifestyle, thoughts and beliefs. So instead of parenting from our own life experiences and our unhealthy childhood programming, how about we guide and inspire our children through empathy, awareness, clarity and confidence instead!
Fun Interactions = Empowerment + Connections
GoKids | GoParents coming together?
During those crucial years with my two children, we shared many adventures together, including everyday house cleaning chores, grocery shopping, visiting libraries, bush walking, going to movies, watching TV, baking…
For every task or challenge we undertook, I incorporated child-friendly and fun themes/challenges that my children enjoyed. Rather than telling them to stay aside and let me finish the task, I wanted them to be involved and have FUN together!
For example, when vacuuming the carpet, for example, I gave my son the vacuum cleaner and my daughter a duster, so off they went cleaning. It did not matter how they did it, we just had fun. We had the music on, talking, laughing, creating challenges along the way… that’s why I know you CAN have fun connecting with your children while empowering them at the same time.
I am not a parenting nor an academic expert; but what I will be sharing with you will be based on my own experiences, research and reading, and most of all what I’ve learned from my greatest teachers – my two children. They were the ones that had been giving me input and advice for over 20 years – through the activities and fun challenges that we shared together.
This is my formula I came up with: Interactions + Fun = Empowerment + Connections
Interactions
The easiest way to build relationships with your children is to involve your children in EVERYDAY activities, such as cooking, house chores, fun outings, grocery shopping etc.
Fun
Children relate and learn better through FUN and JOY!
They will remember how they feel about the situation that’s going to enable them to build the relationship with you, and not from what you tell them or make them do. Therefore, creating connections with your children does not need to be expensive, it just needs patience, creativity and lots of FUN!
Empowerment
GoKids: INVOLVE THEM!
Involve them, whether you are doing your grocery shopping, cleaning the home, watering the garden, bush walking, going to the library etc. Involve them! Your child will learn about himself or herself through interacting with you and their surrounding.
Also I will be sharing with you fun ways to create coluring in / number skills through your daily interactions with your children.
GoParents – Leaning about yourselves, your childhood programming and beliefs and what pushes your buttons through interactions with your children. Enhance those beliefs that work and discard those that do not.
Self Awareness is a process, a journey, and every day is an opportunity to learn and move forward. It all starts with self-awareness!
Your connections with your children at this very moment will become the foundation for the relationships you have with them in the future. Remember, connections and bonding are made through shared experiences! So Interact and connect daily!
I am very honoured and grateful to be able to serve you on your parenting journey.
